Apple finally launched its latest and greatest smartphone iPhones 16 series as the successor to iPhone 15 yesterday. Yes, the foreseen leaks and rumors have been evident in the launch event as always but not like Google. There are some major and minor changes in this iPhone 16 series that we would discuss in detail here below. There is not much of a difference here and there between both iPhone 16 and 16 Plus so we will see here vividly.
Build
The iPhone 16 comes with an Aluminum frame with the dimensions of 147.6×71.6×7.80mm with a weight of 170g. The iPhone 16 Plus also comes with an Aluminum frame with a dimension of 160.9×77.8×7.80mm and with a weight of 199g.
Display
For the display aspect, the iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch 2556×1179 pixels OLED 460ppi Super Retina XDR display with 1000 nits max brightness with 1600 nits peak brightness, and up to 2000 nits peak outdoor brightness and this phone has HDR, True Tone, Corning-made glass with Ceramic Shield protection.
The iPhone 16 Plus has a display of 6.7-inch which is 2796×1290 pixels OLED with 460ppi Super Retina XDR display that goes up to 1000 nits of max brightness and 1600 nits peak brightness and up to 2000 nits of peak brightness outdoors. This phone also comes with HDR, True Tone, and Corning-made glass with Ceramic Shield protection as mentioned above.
Performance
The both iPhone 16 and 16 Plus come with the same A18 processor which has 2 performance and 4 efficiency cores. This is a 3nm chip with 64-bit architecture, 5‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine. This phone comes with three storage variants 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus comes with IP68 water and dust resistance and have one nano SIM and eSIM support. As expected this phone will come with iOS 18. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus have built-in lithium-ion batteries as per Apple the iPhone 16 has 22 hours and iPhone 16 Plus will have 27 hours of video playback. We can charge these devices 25W charger via USB Type C. As we know Apple never tells us about the battery size and we will know in the future as teardowns begin in the wild. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus have TrueDepth camera for FaceID and facial recognition.
Camera
The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus have the same set of cameras and the same functions so we will see here briefly. As said these two phones have 48MP wide-angle with f/1.6 aperture with the second-generation sensor-shift optical image stabilisation for video. This 48MP camera has also 2x Telephoto, 100% Focus Pixels, Photonic Engine, True Tone flash, HDR video recording with Dolby Vision at 4K 60 fps, Slo‑mo 1080p at 240fps, Cinematic mode up to 4K Dolby Vision at 30 fps and 12MP 120° Ultra Wide with f/2.2 aperture with autofocus and finally apple have given Macro photography.
For the front, iPhone 16 and 16 Plus come with 12MP TrueDepth with ƒ/1.9 aperture with Autofocus with Focus Pixels, Retina Flash, HDR video recording with Dolby Vision up to 4K at 60 fps and Slo‑mo 1080p at 120fps.
Connectivity
As the connectivity front, both iPhone 16 and 16 Plus has 27 5G bands (sub‑6 GHz) with 4×4 MIMO, Gigabit-class LTE, Wi-Fi 7 with 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.3, Second-generation Ultra Wideband chip for spatial awareness, Thread networking technology, NFC with reader mode, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS and BeiDou given all bells and whistles.
Price and Availability
The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus come with five color options Black, White, Pink, Teal, and Ultramarine which are color-infused glasses and have 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The Pricing of the iPhone 16 starts at 128GB for Rs 79,900, 256GB Rs 89,900, and 512GB comes with Rs 1,09,900. For iPhone 16 Plus it starts at 128GB for Rs 89,900, 256GB Rs 99,900 and 512GB comes with Rs 1,19,900. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus pre-order starts on 13th September 5:30 pm and is available on 20th September this will be available on apple.com/store.
